The First 8 Days of Being a Mom is a friendly, easy-to-read hands-on guide that leads you through what happens on delivery day as well as the next few eventful, exhausting, exciting days. It explains how to take care of the new mom as well as the newborn. For example:

  • How, when and how often to breastfeed
  • How to change a diaper
  • How to relieve exploding breasts
  • How to know if your baby is feeding enough
  • Why new moms are perspiring so much and crying (boohoo, I am so happy)
  • When and how to start exercising

The manual with 80 pages is short and simple because no one has time to read an encyclopedia when you’ve just had your baby. You will find day-by-day information about maternal care, recovery and newborn care and it has lots of pictures and illustrations. Every chapter also features room to add some nice memories, pictures and other keepsakes.

The original version of The First 8 Days of Being a Mom is from the Netherlands where every new mom receives one. Filled with short explanations, practical tips and lots of pictures. Now you can enjoy the expert advice and mom-to-mom tips and trics!

Why the first 8 Days?

Why not the first 12 days or month or even the first year of being a mom?  We’ve heard that question a lot.  And we understand why.  This is why.

“A good start is half the work,” is a rough translation of an old Irish proverb. Knowing what you are up for before you dive in is extremely important.  You don’t want to get overwhelmed and waste precious energy on things that don’t matter at that time bringing you frustration and disappointment.

Has anyone ever said to you that having a baby and becoming a mother is easy?  Well, it isn’t.  And those first days after delivery are especially daunting. It’s all about starting up, adjusting to the situation and the newborn, as well as the healing of the new mom’s body after delivery.

A lot of first times and new situations will occur in those very first days during which new moms (and dads, too!) need advice, guidance and help. That’s why the manual is geared to these first 8 days, though much of the information (like the breastfeeding tips) is useful over a longer period of time.  But the start of all these new activities, feelings and practicalities are in those first 8 days. And that’s why The First 8 Days of Being a Mom is here: To help you make a good start!
